Making Mental Health and Wellbeing part of your everyday operational risk management

17 July 2017

Over the last 18 months, you will have heard the team at Wilson Consulting Group talk increasingly about the risk and impact of Mental Health and Wellbeing in the workplace.

Through our Mental Health and Wellbeing advisors, we have proudly trained over 500 Mental Health First Aiders, from 12 leading Australian and New Zealand organisations. In addition, we have assisted many of our partners in integrating Mental Health and Wellbeing into their existing Critical Risk Management Frameworks.  This is an area often overlooked by many organisations, but is often the ‘sleeping-giant’ in their risk profiles.

Languishing mental health and mental illness is recognised under legislation as a workplace risk and as such its causes need to be identified, assessed, and controlled. Such risk controls are significantly more complex than the physical risks that we are traditionally used to managing. They require a greater level of insight and application to uncover where that hazards sit and how they present themselves in the workplace.

Formalising the importance of Mental Health and Wellbeing at WCG

Our support and action in this space has seen a dramatic improvement in our partners’ approach to mental health and wellbeing within their businesses and industries, removing stigma, negative perception and misunderstanding that exists in today’s society.

This commitment is twofold:
